Hourli.ai integrates AI throughout the time tracking workflow to save you time and improve the quality of your entries.

AI-Generated Entries (Chrome Extension)

The most powerful AI feature is automatic time entry generation from emails:

  1. Open Gmail with the Hourli.ai Chrome extension installed
  2. Open any email thread
  3. Click the Hourli.ai side panel icon
  4. The AI reads the email and suggests:
    • Customer: matched from your customer list
    • Service: matched from your services
    • Hours: estimated based on context
    • Description: a professional summary of the work discussed

You review the suggestion, adjust anything that needs changing, and save.

How matching works

The AI uses your organization's customer and service lists to match entries. The more complete your lists, the better the suggestions.

Description AI Tools

When editing any time entry (web app or extension), two AI tools are available for the description field:

Fix Grammar

Cleans up spelling, grammar, and punctuation in your description while keeping the meaning intact. Useful when you've typed a quick note and want to make it professional before it hits QuickBooks.

Rewrite

Completely rewrites the description in a professional tone. Takes your rough notes and turns them into a polished, client-ready description.

AI Insights on Time Entries

Whenever you filter the time entries list (by date range, customer, service, or team member), an AI-generated summary automatically appears at the top of the page. This includes insights like total hours, billable vs non-billable breakdown, and notable trends for the filtered data.

The summary updates every time you change your filters, giving you an instant overview without having to manually add up numbers or scan through entries.

Ask Hourli.ai

Ask Hourli.ai is a conversational AI interface for querying your time entry data. Navigate to it from the sidebar.

What You Can Ask

  • "Summarize my hours this month by customer"
  • "What's my billable vs non-billable breakdown this week?"
  • "Show me a daily breakdown for last month"
  • "Who are my top customers by hours?"
  • "Group my time by project for March"

The AI has access to your time entry data and responds with formatted tables and summaries.

Privacy note

AI queries only access time entry data within your organization that you have permission to view. Rate data is excluded if you don't have rate viewing permissions.
